TRADITIONAL
A 'traditional' chore level means your Bounty Bed will have the same watering requirements of all other garden beds. Typically this is overhead irrigation or hand watering for 5-15 minutes, twice a day (depending on the season & current conditions). No irrigation reservoirs, overhead sprinklers or automated watering timers are included. This chore-level is for the person who doesn't mind daily watering and desires the structure pre-built, delivered and installed on site.
WICKING
The 'Wicking' Option requires weekly or bi-weekly watering (depending on recent rainfall). A wicking reservoir, drainage blocks/stones, a wicking fabric membrane, and fill/overflow/and reservoir drainage plumbing are included. The wicking effect produces stronger, healthier plants due to the plant's roots seeking downward for water, as opposed to more conventional overhead irrigation. It also conserves 70-90% more water than overhead irrigation (which is mostly lost to evaporation). A garden hose can be used to easily fill the wicking reservoir in 1-5 minutes (depending on prior water level). This level does not allow for weekly seed propagation, this must be done daily by hand, and does not include overhead irrigation or timers.
100% AUTOMATED
This level is for the person who travels, is busy with family or a career, or just doesn't want to add another To-Do to life's lists. An automated wicking set-up is included that adjusts the level of the wicking reservoir when it senses it needs filling. Overhead irrigation is performed using a an adjustable water timer, which allows for growing-from-seeds as well as providing a daily water show. A garden hose is connected to the water intake valve and can be left on and forgotten about, or removed when desired. All plumbing components (water intake, overflows, reservoir drainage) are hidden and located on the 'back' face of each model. This level truly takes all the 'chore' out of gardening.
6) Choose your Interior Organics

COMES WITH Soil/Mulch
Bounty Bed model is delivered to site, installed and completely filled with organic raised-bed soil and sand (if appropriate) by our company. Two quantities of organic straw-mulch included to protect initial transplants.
2) Select your PLANT Preference
Some plant species can't tolerate each other, some plants thrive around each other. This concept is called 'companion planting', and we utilize it when choosing which species to group into a season's planting. We also arrange the plants in the ideal orientation for each plant's differing sun and water needs - which naturally turns out to look the best, too! Each Bounty Bed model has different plant groupings suited to that model for Spring/Summer/Fall & Winter. To view the selection of plant groups for each model, click on the model you like under the 'Bounty Beds' tab.
All the vegetables are grown from non-GMO, heirloom seeds and planted into your Bounty Bed as 6-10 week old transplants by our company when your Bounty Bed is delivered. Ornamental plantings will consist of pre-planted Spring, Summer & Fall blooming bulb flowers, and wide range of Southeast-native wildflower annuals. Below are some examples of what we grow.
